TRAGIC: Rider dies while participating in motocross event.

A rider died while participating in a motocross event over the weekend.

Emergency services, including an air ambulance, were dispatched to the track at West Row, near Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, shortly after 11:00 BST on Sunday, but were unable to save the adolescent, identified on social media as George Edwards.

Mildenhall Motocross Ltd’s owners commented on social media that they were “absolutely devastated” and offered their sympathies to “the young man’s friends and family.”

George, 17, was a member of the Kickstart MX track in South Benfleet, Essex, which said he will be “greatly missed by us all at our club” on social media.

An East of England Ambulance Service representative stated, “We were summoned at 11:03 a.m. on September 8th with reports of an accident in Hayland Drove, West Row.

“We dispatched the East Anglian Air Ambulance, two ambulances, and one ambulance officer vehicle.

“Sadly, despite our best efforts, a man died at the scene.”
