The Dallas Cowboys face the challenge of replacing longstanding offensive tackle Zack Martin this offseason. Although they signed Robert Jones from the Miami Dolphins, they may benefit from a long-term solution in the NFL Draft later this month.
“It’s hard to think Booker has flown under the radar given his physical presence and his dominating style of play, but now that we’re officially in draft season, expect the Booker Train to pick up steam,” according to Wilson. “He has largely played left guard at Alabama, and his athleticism and anchor in pass protection, combined with his earth-moving talent in the run game, sometimes defies the rules of physics. He’s a plug-and-play starter on Day 1.”
Booker, who turns 21 this week, was a First-team All-American last season and First-Team All-SEC in 2023 and 2024, making him one of the most decorated players in this year’s draft.
Taking Booker may not be the “sexiest” option for Jerry Jones, but neither was Martin when he was chosen in 2014. He became an 11-year offensive line veteran and one of the greatest Cowboys of all time.
Those are large shoes for Booker to fill, but if the Cowboys select him at No. 12, he has a decent chance of becoming a backbone of the offense.
Booker will most certainly be selected at No. 12, which is higher than most mock drafts have him ranked, but the Cowboys might take a safe player with the choice who could go a long way in the future.
