George Russell has reiterated his belief that McLaren now has the finest package in F1, claiming the Woking team would “excel” in the coming rounds.
The tournament moves to warmer climates following three chilly weekends in Australia, China, and Japan to begin the season.
Russell feels the papaya squad will thrive in the final two legs of the current triple header, which will be hosted by the Gulf nations of Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
The British driver sparked a commotion with colleague Lando Norris at the opening grand prix of the season, stating McLaren could win every race this year without further upgrading its chassis, which his fellow Briton refuted.
That feat is no longer possible after Max Verstappen won for Red Bull in Suzuka, but Russell believes McLaren will come back strong as the temperature rises.
“I don’t think we’ve seen the best of McLaren yet,” the Mercedes driver told Sky Sports F1. “There’s been three frigid races. We’re wearing jackets here, like we did last week in China.
“I believe that when we go to Bahrain at 35 degrees and Saudi Arabia at 30, 35 degrees, those individuals will excel.
“We know we’ve always been strong in cooler weather, so I’m keeping my feet on the ground. It’s been a terrific first three races, with 21 to go. “It is still early days.”
