Following his victory in Japan, Max Verstappen became only the fourth Formula One driver to win a grand prix in ten consecutive seasons.
The four-time Formula One champion turned pole position into a straightforward victory, handily defeating Lando Norris.
Verstappen won his 64th grand prix overall, and his 10th in a row, dating back to the 2016 Spanish GP.
Verstappen is in his 11th season of Formula One, having only failed to win once in his rookie campaign in 2015.
As a result, Verstappen has joined Formula One legends Michael Schumacher, Lewis Hamilton, and Alain Prost in winning a race for at least ten straight years.
Schumacher and Hamilton share the record of 15 consecutive years, with Prost on 10.
Verstappen, assuming he is still racing in 2030 and has won every year between now and then, may break the record outright.
Hamilton (105), Schumacher (91), Verstappen (64), and Prost (51) have won a stunning 27.57 percent of all world championship races – 311 out of 1,128 as of the Japanese Grand Prix.
