Oscar Piastri has joined only seven other Formula One drivers in achieving a podium finish on their birthday.
The McLaren driver turned 24 on April 6th, the day of the Japanese Grand Prix, where he started and finished third behind four-time Formula One champion Max Verstappen and teammate Lando Norris.
Before Piastri, only six drivers had claimed a podium on their birthday in 1,128 world championship grands prix, the first being Chris Amon at the 1968 British Grand Prix.
Only two of those six drivers have won on their birthdays, the first being James Hunt at the Dutch Grand Prix during his title-winning season in 1976.
The other driver came 29 years later, in the 1995 Canadian Grand Prix, when Jean Alesi won his only Formula One race in 201 attempts, emotionally driving the #27 Ferrari to victory on Gilles Villeneuve’s home circuit.
Only Piastri and Alex Albon on the 2025 grid celebrate their birthdays on the day of a grand prix, with Albon finishing ninth in China on his 29th.
