Naturally, Italian newspapers, led by La Gazzetta dello Sport, enjoy cheering for ‘their’ Ferrari.
Despite the lack of encouraging tales from the Scuderia camp over the Japanese Grand Prix weekend, they were really impressed with Max Verstappen.
“Verstappen was fantastic. “F1 belongs to him again,” shouted the newspaper, dubbing the sport as “Formula Max!”
“Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri were taught by the champion, as they do not get as much out of the car as Max,” according to the statement.
“His statement about how no one would see him in the McLaren demonstrates that he does not care about modesty. He was well aware that he was presenting something remarkable at Suzuka.
“The McLarens seemed unbeatable until Max appeared. He’s driving the Red Bull car, which he only knows how to manage. The Dutchman should never be counted out, even if his car isn’t what it will be in 2022.”
Aside from Verstappen, the Corriere dello Sport noticed another wonder.
“The phenomenon Andrea Kimi Antonelli took Verstappen’s records away [youngest driver to lead a grand prix and youngest to claim fastest lap], but Verstappen rewrote the history books with a fourth consecutive win at Suzuka and his tenth consecutive F1 season in which he wins at least one race. They may be boring facts, but they are extremely informative.”
The Corriere della Sera also highlighted the two drivers.
“Verstappen is the grandmaster, and Antonelli is the new Formula 1 unicorn.” Both drivers receive a 10. Ferrari receives a 5 since it is not running,” according to the publication, which shares its view about Ferrari with the other media.
