JUST IN: Sergio Perez’s dad hints at retirement in cryptic message following Mexico nightmare

Sergio Perez’s father has spoken out after the Formula One star struggled at the Mexican Grand Prix.
Sergio Perez’s father has hinted that, despite his troubles on the track, the Red Bull star would not be retiring from Formula One anytime soon. Since April, the driver has yet to finish on the podium, and he finished 17th in his home Mexican Grand Prix.

Perez has come under increasing pressure in recent months as Red Bull’s fortunes have declined, and he has struggled to match his teammate Max Verstappen’s results.

He failed to get past Q1 in Mexico over the weekend and then made a false start on race day before colliding with RB’s Liam Lawson.
Red Bull chief Christian Horner has refused to rule out Perez’s exit, leaving his future uncertain.

However, the Mexican’s father, Antonio, has openly supported him in a social media post, promising that there will be much more from his son.

Perez Snr took to Instagram to share a series of photos of the driver in action during his career. And he wrote, “Your first Formula One race, Sergio Perez, 2011 Australian Grand Prix.” “And his last race, the Mexican Grand Prix 2024.”His biggest pride: the world’s most beautiful flag. They remained together till the finish of the film. Thank you, Checo Perez; today you are the most well-known Mexican on the earth.

“You have to be quite proud of what you have accomplished. Always remember that the worst race of your life occurred in Mexico when you were 12 years old, and you were expelled from Kartism in your home country in 2002.

“And look at what you’ve accomplished. The best has yet to come. I adore you, son. “See you next year, 2025.”
Perez may be living a lonely existence right now, but he’ll be desperate to put his best foot forward at the year’s final four Grands Prix.

And, after sharing a ‘I’m not leaving’ meme from The Wolf of Wall Street movie ahead of the US Grand Prix earlier this month, the veteran explained: “I just felt like it’s been every year for the previous two years or so that someone starts this rumour and then everyone picks it up.

“Then all my fans, clearly I’m aware that there will be a large number of people coming to support me at the Mexican Grand Prix, and they may be expecting something that is not true.

“And I felt the need [with the meme] to just say, ‘Look, I think it’s just not correct to spread just rumours like this without knowing the facts’.”
